Vivian Maier
This is my favourite picture of Vivian Maier because of the way in which it framed. I like how she took it in that position because its kind of unusual angle we don't usually see self portraits from that angle. Also I think the colour fits in with the picture it brings out the frame of the picture more which is a mirror. The most thing that catches my eye is the mirror because its not like the other mirrors we have now it is modern.
Today me and my classmate went around the class room taking pictures like Vivian Maier we used things such as mirrors and props also backgrounds
Masked Selfies
Today we recreated pictures from the photographer Danny Tracy we used different material to make our masks
I like how mine turned out i used different stuff such as string and foil also fabric and clear plastic for the base of the mask and added random stuff my idea of the mask was to make it look different and odd to other mask.
This mask would be even better if i added more stuff to make it more different than it already is i could of used a different back ground such as black it bring out the mask more

Omar Diop
What characters does Omar Diop become in his selfies and why?
He became the history of Senegal Daka because they were very important to his because they became great scientists ,musicians and politicians. Why does he choose those characters? He choses those characters because it was a way for him to remember them through his work. Why do you think he makes a connection between himself and the historical figures he depicts in his selfies? He wants to bring peoples attention to the historical figures because when he was at school he was never shown examples of africans and who were exceptional so he believed they weren’t any. What advice would he give to a young photographer? He to start now and you also don’t need a professional camera because even with a phone can make beautiful images and when you do something like that it needs to be shown and not kept to yourself. |
Who would you like to become in your selfie and why? This could be a real person and imaginary creature your future self there are no limits!
I would like to become Albert Einstein because i think i find him very interesting because he is a scientist |
Inge Morath
This are my favorite pictures from Inge Morath i like how she takes her pictures and the colours of them.I also like how she sets up the people to make the images and the colour of the images brings out the pictures more i also like the faces on the masks and how she made them.

if you didn't dress up why is that?
I didn't dress up because I didn't want to also I didn't like the costumes that were there.
what materials did you use?
all i used was a shading pallet and a pencil and pen
what went well?
i like how the mask turned out it was very unusual because good at the same time.
how could you make it even better next time?
i could make try harder to find a design that i like and make it into a mask or even dress up
what inspired you about Omar Diop's work?
I liked how he took his picture and styled out his models in it I also like the colours
Was the mask a good addition to the costume selfie?
i think the mask would have matched the costume if i did dress up.
What do you think of the photographs?
i think they are really nice i liked how they turned out.
Do you remember how the lighting was?
It was dark but i had 2 big bright lights around me to make it light a bit
Omar Diop
I can see Omar Diop dressed in a white dress with a white scarf wrapped around his neck and a sliver patterned scarf wrapped around his waist also a white hat.He is also wearing a orange and black football boot with and red, white and black pattern ball in the background.I can see he has put a green background and and brown frame around the picture he might of done it to bring out the image more. |
Danny Treacy
I can see a figure dressed in odd clothes on the left side he is wearing a black waterproof jacket , a black and white glove and a metallic trousers he is also wearing a half on a skeleton mask on the right side of his face it looks like he is wearing a green waterproof jacket with a dirty glove and metallic trousers on he is also wearing a brown with a bit of orange boot on his foot.Further more i can see that he has put a black background to maybe make the picture pop out to make it eye catching. |
Vivian Maier
I can see that Vivian Maier has taken a picture in a mirror and she has put steel wires over the picture as a frame. She has used the colour black and white in my opinion the colour black and white is very dull colours but in the picture it brings her portrait out and i can see she has focused on her self-portrait and blurred the background out. |
All the images are very different from each other the colours are very different some of them are bright and some of them are dull the the way the images are the lay out are different. My favourite one out of all of them has to be the Omar Diop picture because the colour is very eye catching and the picture is very unique he makes look like the picture was painted but its not i also like the outfit that he wears in the picture the gown and the scarf
Bolaji's Collage.
www: i like how my selfie turned out with the colours it brings out the image more and makes it more eye catching. I also like the pictures i used i used different types of images it makes my picture look odd.The pictures i used were a cheetah,A picture from when i was young,A picture of a view from my house,A picture of a camera,And a picture of a Nigerian flag and the masked selfie we did before.
EBI: Even thought i like my picture i maybe could’ve added more pictures or chose different ones or even organised to a different place.
Is it a college or a self portrait?
It is a college because different images were used to make this picture if it was a self portrait it would be a picture of a face

Shadow selfie
The most highlighted part of the photograph is the woman's hair and her jacket.
There are a lot of shadows in this photograph such as the building, some of the cars and the walk way and the person that is taking the photo.
i could tell that it is during the afternoon or morning because some of the background is light plus if the picture was taken during the night you wouldn’t be able to see some of the stuff even if it was edited.
The picture has natural light from daylight.
some of the lines are curvy and thin like the outline of her body but also the background lines are thick.
The lines in the photograph direct me to a certain way it directs me forward and onwards from the way the woman is standing.
If i could touch the surface of the photograph it would feel bumpy with rocks around it would also feel sandy from the dirt on the ground.
The cars in the photograph would feel smooth like metallic the lamppost would feel ruff and metal.

Narrative sequencing-Lee Friedlander's Shadow Selfies
Lee Friedlander Images
www:i kind of like the pictures i chose think they are very interesting i also like the layout i did because i made the story more better.
EBI: this work would be even better if i actually thought about it i could have made like a real story and added more descriptions and words to make it more good.I could also have re a-range the picture more to get a different story background
what is the role of the shadow in the sequence?
the role of the shadow sequence id that a made has a addiction to taken pictures of woman so he goes around taking pictures then he goes back home and make a collage about them and thinks of his next victims.
How did adding the words impact on the images?
It made the pictures more interesting because when u read the words it makes you thing thats actually happening in the images
What has narrative sequencing taught us about the nature of photography?
It has taught us that not all pictures have to have colour or thats you actually have to see the person it have also taught us that it could be anything even shadows.

In the first photograph i can see a old detailed car which looks like its from the 1960's with a portrait of a hand in front of it which looks like Josephson is holding out he has also used the Colour black and white. In the second photograph i can see that Francesca has taken a picture in a room also in the picture there is a large framed mirror where has she has taken her self portrait from there is also a person standing behind a block with their hand out and Francesca standing behind a piece of paper with her feet pocking out the bottom of it she has also made the image in a colour of black and white.
Francesca photograph is a ind of mirror/shadow/disguised selfie because they was she hides herself behind a piece of paper in the portrait it resembles a shadow selfie where else in Josephson image it does resemble a shadow and disguised image so both of the images have something in common they also have hid them self in the portrait but his one is a lot different then hers.He adds a lot of background imagery.
The thing that surprises me about Josephson image is that they he has took the portrait and made it seem because to me and everyone else it looks a portrait of a hand but its not it is actually a square cut out of the paper and he used that as a frame and the hand that is in the portrait is actually the drivers hands so it did surprise me when i found out because he disguised it so well. Francesca imagine includes different types of frames which are a mirror frame, a piece of paper and a wooden block i was really surprised aswell because i never knew that it was her behind the paper i thought it was a chair. Francesca has also been creative because she has added different types of objects to her image.
I enjoy looking at Josephson image because its very creative how he styled it out it does inspire me to do my own work and make it creative like his and add different features to the images and backgrounds.
